The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 comes into force October 2006. The new regulation emphasises the preservation of life and environmental impact on others, so full compliance is in everyone's best interests. To do this you must have completed fire risk assessments for all your buildings.

This new fire safety regime will abolish the existing prescriptive system of fire certification and associated legislation and replace it with a fire risk assessments approach. Responsibility for compliance rests with the 'employer, owner / occupier or designated manager or agent of a building', and the person carrying out the fire risk assessments must have suitable training, experience and knowledge.
